Note from Cadry: Today my husband, David, is taking over this space to tell you about the vegan food he found at the Twin Peaks Festival while we were in Washington this summer.
This is David here, aka Mr. CadrysKitchen. I was planning on writing a review of all the vegan food we ate while attending the Twin Peaks Festival in North Bend and Snoqualmie, Washington this past July; but during my preparations, I stumbled across this addendum to a confidential FBI dossier which, amazingly, covers much of the same subject matter!
As duplicating the work of others is a waste of time (and I have much to do), I present it to you here, in its unedited form:

Gordon, I want you to know how much I appreciate your giving me the chance to cross-check the accuracy of the recently-discovered dossier, The Secret History of Twin Peaks. It is a fascinating read, and one which casts more light (and also more mystery) upon my own investigations into the supernatural activity surrounding the small Washington town of Twin Peaks.
I must admit, though, that as thoroughly-researched as the dossier obviously is, there are some surprising omissions – particularly when focused on the oft-celebrated cuisine of the area. (Donuts, pie, and coffee being staples of the average Twin Peaks palate.) As you know, I have for many years followed the Tibetan teachings of Jigme Lingpa, and have maintained a healthy, animal-free diet for nearly a decade. During my time in the town, I was pleased to find a wealth of delicious vegan food on offer, yet none of this is mentioned in any way on the pages of the aforementioned dossier.
I therefore offer up some amendments to the tome, drawn from my own experiences and journal entries, largely written during my recent summer visit to Twin Peaks:

Have arrived in Washington State near Twin Peaks, and made my way to the neighboring town of Issaquah, where I have rented a small cabin. I plan to make this my H.Q. as I do reconnaissance at the local gathering called the Twin Peaks Festival, which is held every summer and should provide me with a wealth of information. It is happening again over the coming weekend.
In the meantime, I’ve stocked up on some provisions so that I can work comfortably from the cabin. Issaquah has a Trader Joe’s and a PCC Natural Market, so I was able to procure a large number of vegan staples for my time here. For my first meal, I’ve prepared a spread of nibbles across the Formica table that came with the cabin. (Green is its color – I must remember to research its origin.)
This feast includes crackers, pickles, olives, cherry tomatoes, Parmela Creamery’s vegan cheddar, a wheat berry salad, a 4-flavor package of hummus, a bottle of organic Tempranillo, and a bowl of fresh, local blackberries that I picked myself outside the cabin. While working a case, I like to have access to delicious finger foods that are easy to prepare and delicious to consume.

Day 1 of the Twin Peaks Festival.
Before making my way to the festivities I meet my regular vegan correspondent [NAME REDACTED] at the RR Diner (aka Twede’s Café). The Diner is something of a legend in the town, famous for its coffee and pies (a favorite haunt of Special Agent Dale Cooper, as you know).
The famed pies, sadly, are not vegan-friendly, so I opt for hash browns, toast with jam, a fruit salad, and a cup of damn fine coffee (black as midnight on a– well, you know – pretty black.)

Arrived at the Festival. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming, and there is a massive spread of coffee and donuts. There are soy and almond milks for the coffee, and even a table full of vegan donuts from Mighty-O in Seattle!

During a break from the festivities, I notice that somebody has slipped the following cryptic note into my bag. The note reads, “The owls pies are not what they seem… The Rains of Winter are going to come back in style.”
Some legwork leads me to discover that there is a local baker by the name of Winter Rain in the area, who is offering to make vegan pies for anyone attending the Festival! I make contact, and find out that her vegan pies are available for custom orders in a variety of flavors. I, of course, opt for the traditional Cherry Pie, this being Twin Peaks and all. I arrange to pick up the pie later in the day.
And damn fine it was..!

Evening finds me at a banquet hall up in the mountains. I spot a number of persons-of-interest to my investigation in the crowd, including Dr. Lawrence Jacoby, Nadine Hurley, and Betty Briggs, widow of Major Garland Briggs – whose work on [REDACTED] is crucial to my understanding of the mysteries of [REDACTED].
I plan to meet with them all later in the evening, but for the moment am distracted by more vegan fare – this time, seemingly prepared just for myself and a select few other guests at the banquet.
A delicious appetizer salad is followed by roasted potatoes and broccolini over couscous, and chased down by a chocolate brownie garnished by a strawberry. I feel very well taken care of!

Gordon, the most incredible thing happened to me earlier tonight… I’m still not quite sure how to process it. It was like a dream – in fact, even now I am not entirely sure that it wasn’t a dream! I was in a theatre, attending a film festival dedicated to famed director David Lynch. The details of how I ended up here are fuzzy in my mind – almost as if I were a vessel, and someone (something?) else was driving me there. The theatre was filled both with friends of mine, and also subjects in my ongoing investigation of the town.
I settled into my seat to enjoy a series of fascinating short films, snacking on popcorn (vegan, of course!) and enjoying the vibe of the crowd. Suddenly, a chill went down my spine as I seemed to recognize the location on screen. I watched in astonishment as events from my life began to play out in front of me, almost as if they were being pulled from my own memories! This out-of-body experience went on for what seemed like an entire evening, but in reality can’t have been more than 5 minutes.
When the shadow play concluded, the audience applauded, and brought me up on stage to award me first prize in the Festival! This was all so surreal and magical, that it seemed like a moment out of one of David Lynch’s films. All that was missing was someone speaking backwards…

My work in Twin Peaks is nearly finished, for now. I have an uneasy feeling (premonition?) that this town will draw me back in again; but for the moment, the strangeness of last night has dissolved under the bright sunshine of a crisp summer morning.
I meet with my vegan contact again to discuss [REDACTED] while on a hike to the bottom of the majestic local falls, underneath the landmark Great Northern Hotel. This has been an amazing and memorable trip to Twin Peaks, filled with good food, breathtaking sights, and surreal happenings. One marvels at what the future may hold, but I have no doubt it will lead us to a place both wonderful and strange!
