Are you one of those pumpkin-obsessed people who needs that fall favorite for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Well, I’ve got one of those figured out for you with this green pumpkin smoothie.
This autumnal vegan smoothie is packed with pumpkin, kale, bananas, and non-dairy milk. It’s a delicious breakfast or anytime snack. Vegan & gluten-free.
While the rest of the blogosphere is adding a dash of pumpkin spice into anything and everything, my jar doesn’t get a whole lot of action. I’m not one of those people who counts down the days until pumpkin season.
Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin rolls, and pumpkin pies are easy for me to pass. (And of course, PSL aren’t vegan. So even easier to ignore.)
But squash? Eh… Not so much.
Occasionally, though, the urge strikes to branch outside of my ordinary. I don’t have anything against pumpkin per say. It just doesn’t strike me as something that’s deserving of a ravenous frenzy.
So sometimes I’ll get a wild hair to make something with it just for funsies. (I know. I get pretty wild.)
And in those odd pumpkin moods, I crack open a can of pumpkin puree and figure out all of the ways I’ll use every spoonful.

Enter the green pumpkin smoothie.
The green pumpkin smoothie is loaded with nutrient-dense kale, filling pumpkin, frozen bananas for creaminess, chia or flaxseed for added whippy viscosity, and a dash of cinnamon.
Even though it has plenty of kale in it, the bananas, pumpkin, and ice balance it out and keep it from being bitter.
Plus, the pumpkin in the smoothie gives it staying power. It has an autumnal flavor that could almost turn me into one of those obsessed pumpkin fans.
